Answer The Phone

I have a good friend who has been very successful in his business endeavors. He has worked hard and accumulated ownership of three companies together with the enormous responsibilities that are associated with such. He recently sold one of his companies to a large national concern and is basically set financially. That’s a place we all want to be and I am happy for my friend.

There are many notable characteristics of my buddy but one particularly stands out to me. Every single time I call him …… he answers the phone.  There is no voicemail, there is no transferring to another person, none of that, my friend answers the phone.  Real and in person.  To me, that is honorable.  I’m confident that trait contributes to his success and a refreshing reality in today’s world.

Answering the call is important. Being there, real and in person, is critical to authentic relationships.  What about our relationship with Jesus?  What about when He calls?  How do we respond when He tugs at our heart or lays the needy at our feet?  Do we answer or choose to refer, delay or deny?  Let me end with a love felt, non judgmental  comment. If you choose to suggest that Jesus never calls you.  You are wrong, you just aren’t  answering.
